01The place

In the
middle of
the marina.

Puerto Marina is a holiday harbour — white walls, blue water, boats, and people with nowhere in particular to be. Jack's sits right in it.

Inside it's brick, warm light and red leather. Outside it's a wide terrace under the awnings that runs straight down to the water. Lunch starts at midday and rarely finishes when people said it would; by evening the heaters are on, the terrace is full and the kitchen is still sending out ribs.

Fall-off-the-bone ribs in honey barbecue sauce. Eight-hour Wagyu brisket. Burgers built tall enough to cause structural concern. Fajitas you hear before you see. And a pizza oven for whoever at the table refuses to commit.

Long lunches
that turn into
long evenings.

The dining room is brick walls, gilt frames, bulb lights and red leather — warm, noisy, a bit chaotic when it's full, which is most of the time. There are booths for six, long tables for fourteen, and a bar that has never once believed anyone who said "just one".

Families, groups off the boats, the whole hotel. Two set menus — €30 and €38 a head, both with a drink included — so there's one decision instead of fourteen. Kids eat for €9.50.

  • Tomahawk€76 — 40-day dry-aged, 1200g, for two, with two sides and two sauces.
